Background: Commander Phalanx was born just like any other clone, but his training was something special. Something most ordinary Clone Commanders don't have, the training of Clone Commandos and ARC Troopers. At one point he was initiated as an ARC Trooper for his efficiency in the field as a 'Captain' after the 1st assault on Geonosis when ARC troopers were brought into service. With no accidents to his record, save for one which was minor in most cases, Phalanx was appointed Commander rather early for his work. His involvements included the 1st Battle of Geonosis, the Battle of Muunilinst, the Battle of Ryloth, the 2nd Battle of Geonosis, the 1st Battle of Felucia, the Battle of Christophsis, the Mission to Corellia, the Battle of Malastare, among many others, along with his current operation in the Invasion of Rathia, a planet in the Unknown Regions. He was immediately picked as one of the commanders to lead the first beachhead assault on one of Rathia's seawalls, for his efficiency in defending the Kuat Drive Yards from a surprise attack by the CIS.

During the 1st Battle of Geonosis, Phalanx was given command of the 514th Regiment led by Jedi General Karag Drakas. The 514th is a branch of the 41st Legion, at least in the later years of the war. After the Second Battle of Geonosis, the 514th was shifted into the 41st Legion from the 501st Legion during a slight reorganization of the legion heirarchy. So instead of being a branch of the 501st it has become a branch of the 41st. Commander Phalanx continues to show his unquestioned and unfaltering loyalty to the General, the Republic, and the democracy he is trying to protect.

Physical Characteristics:
Has the same genetic and physical makeup of all clone troopers. Dyed his hair dark brown in honor of his Jedi commander, and has grown it to the maximum length allowed of a clone officer. Doesn't shave often enough, resulting in a peppered black full beard stubble. Eyes the standard brown. Has a deep battle scar on his left arm, and shrapnel scarring on his face. Left eye partially cybernetic, causing the retina to glow orange slightly. Doesn't smile often.

Pshycological Profile:
Gruff, no-nonsense. Allows his recon units the ability to fully customize their helmets and chest plates to their liking, so long as they stay within the unit's green/silver color scheme. His Assault units, however, are allowed to mark their chest plates when they are given a commendation, and green markings on the helmet indicate ranking officers. No other customization options are allowed to the assault platoons. In combat, 5527 is surprisingly fierce, often using whatever is needed to get a job done, requirements and legality aside. Has been reprimanded multiple times for collateral damage in excess of normal boundaries. Has been known to take near-suicidal risks. This has forced the GAR to install a more by-the-book second-in-command, in case Ajax is removed from duties, either from injury, death, or court marshall.

Personal History:
Like any standard clone, 5527 "Ajax" was born and raised to adulthood in 10 years on Kamino. His clone batch had been selected for command officer training, where he excelled. He was often reprimanded for suggesting unorthodox and dangerous tactics. Because of that, and despite his skills as a commander, he was only Captain rank during the battle of Geonosis. On Geonosis, 5527 and his company assisted the Jedi Rath Duro in assaulting a minor droid foundry, and subsequently boarding a Techno Union cruiser mid-launch. The cruiser was brought down, and was the last capitol ship destroyed on the surface of Geonosis. For his actions, 5527 was advanced to the rank of Major, given a full battalion, and placed under the direct command of Jedi General Rath Duro.

Shortly after Geonosis, Rath was informed that the CIS had a listening post on the planet Balmorra. Ajax sent a Recon squad to investigate. Rath launched his entire battalion in the canyon below the listening post. After marching his troops unopposed through the forested ravine, and working his way up the hill leading to the post, a Droid Army opened fire on them from the cliffs on either side. Ajax ordered his troops inside the Seperatist Coreship for cover, and held the armies at bay while Rath led a squad to the reactor, and one Recon and one Assault squad stormed the bridge. They launched the ship into space, and destroyed it while republic landing craft evacuated the clone troopers. Ajax was commended for his quick thinking and skill, and was awarded Commander rank and a full Brigade, and the 12th Assault Brigade was formed.

Following the devastating setback on Christophsis, where General Duro's brash pursuit or the retreating droid ruse allowed Loathsom to infiltrate and decimate the capitol city, and threaten Senator Bail Organa, Rath, Ajax, and the rest of the 12th were shipped around for quiet duties and as re-enforcements to a battle, but never as the main force, until Rath ambushed and outmaneuvered a CIS fleet over Corellia, resulting in it's total devastation with no Republic losses. After that victory, Ajax was selected to lead the attack to liberate the Hutt world of Tatooine, where Jabba the Hutt was under siege. The assault ultimately failed, and during the retreat, Ajax's gunship was shot down in the center of Mos Edna. Against order, Rath took a gunship with a Clone Commando squad, an ARC Trooper, and an Assault squad to the crash site and secured it while the Assault squad loaded Ajax and the surviving pilot onto the gunship for medevac.

Against Commander Ajax's orders, the gunship did not turn around to extract General Duro and the commando units, quoting Jedi Council authorization. Ajax was forced to lay in medbay on ships orbiting the planet, wondering what he could have done better, how his gunship could have avoided getting shot down, and always arriving at the conclusion that nothing he could have done would have made the situation better. Two weeks after General Duro was abandoned in Mos Edna, two Recon gunships were finally dispatched discreetly to discover the General's fate. They discovered that he was alive, badly wounded, and forced to use a DL-18 pistol, as his lightsaber had run out of charge. The commando units were all killed, and the crashed gunship had been reduced to rubble. Ajax didn't recognise the personality of his friend and General anymore upon Rath's return, and it was shortly after that when Rath Duro went MIA.

Ajax never fully forgave himself for his error and the unhappy circumstance, and he made up for it by intensifying his brash and brutal tactics, taking on missions and performing actions that he would have thought too suicidan, even for him, in his younger days. When Phase II armor came about, the 12th Assault Brigade began to fall apart, with half it's soldiers adopting the new armor and the other half sticking with the old, and 4 months before the Battle of Coruscant, the 12th Assault Brigade was disbanded, and it's troops separated and integrated into other units, though they all carried the 12th's unit logo on their right shoulder. Ajax himself was bumped back down to Captain and was offered a position in the 501st, which he gladly accepted.
