The P-47 Thunderbolt Is my favorite Piston Engine Plane of all time, doesn't get any better IMO. (Better is a relative term, I realize it was not the best). Other favorites include P-38 Lighting, P-51 Mustang, Spitfire, FW-190, B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, B-29 SuperFortress F-4U Corsair, F-6F Hellcat, F-8F Bearcat, A-1 Skyraider and many many others.

My favorite Jet aircraft of all time is the F-86F Sabre, specifically the F variant or later.
