| 1. Be polite and respectful to one another. Got a problem with one another? This isn't the place to deal with it.
2. Be sure to post in parenthesis what era your roleplay is taking part in: EG, (GCW) (CW) (KoTOR) (TOR) (NJO) etc. It will help keep up the continuity and it will help keep the boards a bit more tidy. Please post it before the title of your roleplay.
3. Absolutely no curse words. I mean curse words from Earth. You never heard anyone in the Star Wars universe drop the F-bomb did you? I'm talking about the Earth expletive. Keep that out of here, please. For a list of Star Wars expletives, check this list for the appropriate words: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_phrases_and_slang The word 'frak' is in there if you must have an alternative. Yes, it is an homage to Battlestar Galactica, but it's listed there, so it's fine. Just listing an example.
4. No God modding. Take the blow. You think it's not fair? Sorry, well life isn't fair. You must be able to be damaged and/or killed. However, please keep from killing each other (at least right off the bat, without warning, without reason. Keep it with duels if you must. But even then, in duels, unless they are killing their own characters off, do NOT kill them in a duel. Damage will carry over, though, in normal RPs). People get rather mad when they need to scrap a character. Like I said, yes, life isn't fair, however, we must have some enjoyment. Unless they're ready to kill their own character off, please no deathblows - at least 'instant' deathblows. You can't kill someone in one post only, it will have to be over time. There will be exceptions to this rule overall, but I will formulate that rule over time. Example for this rule. You swing at someone and you miss, but your opponent manages to get a hit in on you. Take the blow. No one's invincible. Also, no overkill armor. Make fighting fair game. Another instance, do not post like this: He shoots his opponent in the head. <-- This is a no-no.
It should be posted like this, so someone else can actually respond to the attack (though of course, there will be exceptions, but I will cover that at a later date): He shoots at his opponent's head. <-- that's more like it. Because it gives the opponent time to respond. It gives them a chance to dodge it. If you're shooting NPC's, you can kill as many as you want as long as you need to (cannon fodder, mainly.)
5. If at all possible, use proper grammar and spelling. But if you are not good at English, that is okay. Post as good as you can, just make sure it can be read and someone can make sense out of it.
6. No controlling other players without consent. You will not be able to control anyone else in the RP. Some NPC's are okay, but you may not control other players, unless directly given permission. You can't make anyone else do something you want them to.
7. Study the era you are roleplaying in. If you're going to be roleplaying, say, in the KotOR era, please don't say you're using an E-11, which wasn't invented until the Galactic Civil War. Take the time to study the era and study the equipment, culture, and vehicles, please.
8. Most importantly: HAVE FUN! Don't get bent out of shape over every little thing. RP's are meant for having fun and showing off writing and storytelling abilities. Sure there maybe frustrating times, but get over it. Just text, after all! And also, if there are duels, feel free to be a little competitive.
9. Almost forgot. Please use the OOC tags for out of character chat. That way people don't get confused.
10. Another thing: If you give people objectives, make sure they're achievable by all. Give people a chance to carry the missions out as they want to. That being said, people who complete objectives - do NOT complete it the very post it is issue to you. 3-4 posts later you may complete it, but please, not before that. No one INSTANTLY carries out objectives. Not even Superman.
Edit- I forgot to mention. As LONG as a weapon, uniform, armor piece, or misc item was made in one era, you can use it in any era after that. EG, DC-15A or DC-15S can be used in GCW and beyond since CW was before it.
