Hey guys,
today I bring you my newest discovery, for TFU2:
I found a way to edit the textures of any model of The Force Unleashed 2.
It's pretty simple, but the results are great.
The skins aren't as HD as to be expected, so editing them isn't too hard.
Things you'll need:
-TFU2
-GIMP
-.dds plugin for gimp
-WinRar
First off, install the .dds plugin, by putting the .exe under C:\Programme\GIMP-2.0\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins.
Now open up gimp and go to the TFU2 root folder and open LevelPacks. You will see 4 .lp files.
Open the pak0.lp with winrar.
In this tut I want to skin the stormitrooper, so I opened the pak0 and go to Game/Disc/Characters/MaleAverage/TrooperArmorTest/Textures and double click the trooperArmor_d.dds with gimp.
There are a few different types of skins, Normal maps marked with N at the end, Sira, AO and (mostly) C.
The C is the one we want, it has the colors.
Now I add the markings I want, and save the file as dds inside the lp archive. It will detect that the library has been updated and asks if it should do it too. Click yes.
(^This works only because I have set the standard opening program of dds to be gimp, so I don't need to extract the skin and have to put it in all these sub folders later)
After it is done, we're good to go.
Open up ,TFU2 and enjoy the new stormies.
Mine look like this now, and remind, the skin has been done in about 1:30 min.
- Spoiler:
Looks awesome, eh? Cool thing is that the red saber guard for example is just colored all red, as are the markings on the stormies (only in blue instead of red xD)
I am working on a way to extract the models, but that goes into ripping and that's illegal, so don't expect any tut there.
Cool thing is that you can download mods for TFU2, since the game reads everything it needs from the .lp files, and those we can edit and uploiad everywhere.
So go ahead and let there be awesome skins!
