 Assistance With Side mod

PostSubject: Assistance With Side mod   4/18/2016, 12:08 am

I am working on replacing the stock Clone side with new skins and weapons. The skins are from Icemember's Swtor trooper assets and I am also adding retextured versions of the rebel weapons and a ship to replace the standard republic starfighter. The problem is I have pretty much no idea what I am doing and would love assistance.

Icemember had some simple tutorials that I personally followed. I hope he still has them and can upload the pictures again - they really helped me get started on things.

I assume you have copied the rep folder to your map sides folder.

In the rep folder you have 5 folders. (msh, odf, req, effect, munge)

The msh is where you edit textures and models for the classes.
The odf is where you can edit attributes of classes, weapons and vehicles.
The req is where req files go for your classes and vihicles.
The munge is where the animation files are for classes and vehicles.
The effects is where well the effects go lol.

Once your done modifying all files. Munge your side. Then replace your stock rep.lvl with
your custom rep.lvl

I would recommended reading the documentation for the SWBF2modtools. It teaches you the
basics of mapping if ya didnt create a map yet.

If ya didnt get the SWBF2Modtools, you better download em 1st. Makes things 70% easier for modding.

I'm just replacing the skins and weapons for the vanilla game do I still need to go thru the map folder and create a map to munge the side? And how to do modify each of the different files groups and thier attributes?

So, if I remember well, you released a little side-mod at Gametoast about the Old Republic era?

If you want to have a working "rep" and "repshel" lvl files look here:

It's assume you already have the Modtool and your map munged.

Go to data_***/Sides/(here you should already have a "tur" folder). [*** correspond to your 3 letters name id].

Open another window, and go to BF2_ModTools/assets/sides/ and here copy the "rep" and the "common" folders. Paste them next to the "tur" folder.

If you haven't already done, download Icemember's TOR troopers pack here ---> http://swbf-custom.forumactif.com/t40p100-icemember-s-assets#5534

Rename the custom "msh" files (I can't remember whatever the names are...sorry) from the TOR pack with the original names (for exemple: "rep_inf_ep3trooper"), do the same for all units you want: "rep_inf_ep3sniper" "rep_inf_ep3heavytrooper" etc...

Once you've done all your modifications go to data_***/BUILD/ and launch the visualmunge. Then replace the stock rep.lvl and repshell.lvl with your custom ones (Makes sur to backup the old files!!)

I didn't do the map I just found an unfinished version and asked for help finishing it, I have no clue on any of the map munging stuff but hopefull this well help, thank you.

I believe the msh files you mentioned to rename are the odf's, I want to add some custom weapons and a ship do I just replace those as well?

For stock maps yes. For custom maps, name anything you want.

ok cool now i believe rep_inf_ep3trooper along with the others are odf files what would be the name of the mshes i need to replace?

Sure.

For replacing rep side, you can change the name of stock models or keep em the same. But the odf
files must remain the same name.

ok do you happen to know which of the models belong to the clones, the republic weapons, and ships or just a general idea because there are a lot of files and I dont know where to start.

Republic units (infantry): (.odf)

- "rep_inf_clonecommander (I'm mot totally sur for this one...can't remember)
- "rep_inf_ep3jettrooper"

Where you can change the health, speed or weapons for one class: (.odf)

- "rep_inf_default_rifleman"
- "rep_inf_default_rocketeer"
- "rep_inf_default_sniper"
- "rep_inf_default_engineer"
- "rep_inf_default_commander"
- "rep_inf_default_jettrooper"

In those names "rep" correspond to "Republic", "inf" correspond to "Infantry", "ep3" correspond to all clones phase 2 (there are on all stocks maps apart Geonosis) (if you want to modify phase 1 clones just replace "ep3" by "ep2", for ODFs and mshs).
